THE PART ON THE DRUM

            Part of the drum and hardware. Drum consist of various tools that become one unity. In those part have different function. Following part of the drum and it’s function :

1.      Snare Drum

Snare Drum is the most vital element in the drum. Snare drum size variation beetwen 10” and 15”.

Type of snare drum :

Ø  Snare Drum usually, measuring 5 ½” – 6 ½” issued a tone or a medium tone.

Ø  Thick snare drum, measuring 7”-8” givde a deep tone.

Ø  Thin snare drum has 2 types :

1.      Piccolo snare drum size 4”-4 ½” (metal or bass).

2.      Size 3 ½”-4” made of wood.

2.      Bass Drum

Bass drum is a very vital part of the drum. In playing bass drum you will be assisted by a tool thas is pedal. Variations of bass drum size are 24” (music rock), 22”, 20”, 18”, and 14”.

3.      Tom-Tom

Tom-tom on the drum is the completeness of the drum set, where the drummer can more freely vary the blow.

In standard drum set, tom-tom is devided into 3 part :

1.      Small tom-tom 1.

2.      Small tom-tom 2.

3.      Large tom-tom or floor tom.

Tom-tom drum has varying size : 6”, 8”, 10”, 12”, 13”, 14”, 15”, 16”, 18”, 20”.

4.      Cymbal

a)      Hi-hat

Hi-hat is 2 cymbal plates combine into one part. Hi-hat has the role of manage the tempo or time in the game. Hi-hat size : 10”, 13”, 14”, and 15”. In the old days drummer has not known hi-hat, but “Low Boy”. Hi-hat appeared in the mid-20s decade.

b)      Ride cymbal

Ride cymbals have the same function as hi-hat, as an accompaniment or rhythm. Ride cymbals have size 18”-26”.

c)      Crash  cymbal

Crash cymbals serve as variations in the game. Crash cymbal has size : 15”, 16”, 17”, 18”, 19”, 20”, and 22”. Thinner than the ride cymbal.

d)      Splash cymbal

Splash cymbal has the same functionality as crash cymbal, only splash cymbal is smaller than crash cymbal. Splash cymbal size : 6”, 8”, 10”, and 12”.

e)      China cymbal

China cymbal has the same function as crash cymbal. China cymbal has a varied size between 8”-20”. China cymbal was created because of the influence of china music.

f)       Bell cymbal

It’s shape and size is like splash cymbal, only it’s size is much thicker.

g)      Sizzle cymbal

Has a nail a round the edge of the cymbal, so as to produce a long hissing sound, then emerging hi-hat sizzle.

5.      Hardware Drum

1)      Hi-hat Stand

Serves as a space for hi-hat cymbals.

2)      Snare Stand

Serves as place to put snare drum.

3)      Cymbal Stand

Serves as a place to hang cymbals.

4)      Tom Holder

Serves as a place to put tom-toms.

5)      Pedal Drum

Serves as a batter on the bass drum.

6)      Trones

Serves as a drummer seat.

7)      Muffler

Clippedon the ream, to dampensustain

8)      Adaptor

To assemble cymbal holder, tom-tom holder on cymbal stand and hi-hat stand.

9)      Octoband

Tubular long, one side given the head. Diameter size 6” or 8”.

10)  Gong Drum

The size of the widht of 20”. Mounted like atom with a stand.

11)  Cowbell and Wood block

Cowbell is commonly used in drum set. In addition to cowbell, tambourine is also widely in is talled on the drum set.

12)  Drumhead

Drumhead has different size, type, function, and thicnes.
